How To Do Vintage Nail Art In 9 Easy Steps

Vintage Nail Art is a style of doing your nails in which the colors are muted, not bright. The materials for this are usually pretty cheap too.

If you’re looking for something to do with your nails that’s easy and inexpensive, Vintage Nail Art may be just what you need!

The Vintage Nail Art can be described as a hand painting technique made by stencils or decals. When you see a vintage manicure, it’s most likely inspired by the art deco movement, an artistic and cultural period that started in the 1920s.

Blended fingernails are one of the most popular vintage nail design techniques. I suggest using pastels and muted colors because they fit nicely with style. Brown is considered to be a popular color for this art form.

Some colors are not exactly appropriate for this art form. I suggest that you avoid neon colors. If you want to use a color, which is only slightly subtle, then it’s fine.

I also don’t suggest that black or white be the main colors for this style. I believe those two colors are much better for a more conservative style of vintage nail art called French manicures.

The vintage art designs are unique in their own way. For example, you see a lot of traditional geometric designs, which are very popular. However, other patterns exist too.

I’m going to share some vintage nail art stencils with you so that you’ll have more design options.

How to Achieve a Blended Nail Look?

If you want to know how to achieve a blended nail look, you have to apply a base coat of polish. I wouldn’t suggest using white because it is considered too conservative.

I would suggest choosing between pale pink and brown as the base color for your nails. Pink is a good choice if you are doing a French manicure design, but I prefer brown for vintage designs.

Besides, if you want to blend your nails with the color on the printed stamp (which is usually brown or pink), you need to apply a second color to it. I suggest using either a pale or bright pastel shade.

Personally, I love using pale pinks and pastel shades for this fashion.

If you want the rest of your natural nails to look more like fingernail art, you need to paint them brighter.

What Else Can You Do With Vintage Nails Art?

You can also do more than just polish your fingernails. You can go further and add embellishments to your design. For example, some women like to paint their thumbnails just like the rest of their nails.

However, you can even take it a step further by creating a design on the side of your nail that matches the one on your thumb. This is very common in the vintage nail art technique, and it looks great on a long-fingered hand.

How to Create Vintage Nail Art Designs?

To create a new design, you will need nail stamping tools. There are several different types of these tools, and you can get them at most department stores or drugstores.

They come in different shapes and sizes so that you will always find what works best for you.

Step 1: Choose a nail stamping design and follow the instructions. For example, if you are using a geometric design, you can use this one.

Step 2: Apply clear polish to your nails. For the best results, I suggest using your favorite base coat polish. This will make it easier for your designs to show on your nails.

Step 3: When the polish is dry, apply another color polish lighter than the first one. This will give you another opportunity to add a vibrant hue to your design.

Step 4: Apply clear polish to your nails again, and then apply the colored polish.

Step 5: When the second color is dry, add additional design details. For example, if you are using an image of flowers, you can use different shades of green as nail art embellishments.

Step 6: Apply a layer of soft gel polish. Use this to cover up any mistakes that may occur during the application.

Step 7: Apply a layer of UV gel to protect your nails from damage. This is especially important because nail art is done on natural, not artificial, nails.

Step 8: Apply top coat polish, which will give your design a nice shine.

Step 9: Repeat the process for each nail and then let them dry.

Other Ideas for Do-It-Yourself Nail Art Designs

Some other common vintage nail art designs include marbled art and abstract designs. You can even do a French manicure with vintage designs.

Even though I prefer blended nails for vintage art, this style is not my occupation.

If you want to learn more about doing your hands in different styles, you can read some of the other articles on the site.

I will tell you how to create plain and fancy lacquered nails because these options are great for those who like to keep their nails more natural.

My favorite style is to wear plain, nude-colored polish with a gel coat for shine.

If you prefer having something festive on your hands, you can read about creating Christmas nail art designs. There are plenty of holiday-themed designs that you can use for this.
