8 Best Yoga Asanas for Unwanted Hair Growth

Yoga Asanas for Unwanted Hair Growth. It is a common misconception that thinning hair is something we all have to live with as we grow older.

Wrong! Many yoga asanas can help naturally stop unwanted hair growth and further thinning. One of the most effective ways to do this is by focusing on Urdhva Mukha Svanasana, or the Downward-Facing Dog pose.

To do this, Pose, get down on your hands and knees and then push your hips up, so you end up in an inverted “V” shape with your face pointed towards the ceiling.

Hold the position for between 30 seconds and one minute, maintaining slow and controlled breathing throughout. This yoga pose will help your hair follicles become less active while also improving the circulation to your scalp.

The Headstand is another great yoga asana for unwanted hair growth. To perform it, rest your head on a folded blanket, and then place your palms down gently on the floor by each side of the blanket, so you are supporting yourself with them.

Once you are steady, support yourself entirely with your hands and slowly straighten your legs up, pushing them through the blanket.

When you have done this, rest them on the floor, keeping your body as still as possible to allow it to adjust to this position. Hold the Pose between 30 seconds and two minutes before lowering yourself down again.

8 Best Yoga Asanas for Unwanted Hair Growth

As well as reducing the amount of unwanted hair you have, these yoga poses can also improve your general health. And help increase blood flow to all parts of your body.

Be aware that it may take a few weeks or even months for any changes in hair growth to become apparent. So don’t be disheartened if you don’t notice anything straight away.

Still, if you want to give it a go, start practicing these poses a few times each week and see whether your hair starts becoming less dense after a while.

1. Palming Pose

To perform Palming, sit down on the floor and stretch your legs in front of you. Bend forward from your waist to rest on your thighs, and then gently press each hand into a thigh to steady yourself.

Hold this position for around 10 seconds before slowly standing back up again. Repeat this yoga asana five times every day and see whether it makes any difference to your hair growth.

2. Jute Pose

To perform the Jute pose, sit down on the floor and take a few deep breaths to relax. Then, stretch your legs out in front of you, so they are straight with the tops of your feet touching the floor.

This will narrow down your hips, an added bonus for those who have large hips and buttocks. If you can’t reach the floor at first, don’t panic!

That is perfectly fine. Just place your hands on your thighs or take off a layer of clothing and try again. This position won’t do anything for the hair on your head, but it will help stop further growth elsewhere in your body.

3. Squeeze Pose

to perform a squeeze pose, sit down on the floor, and lean against a wall. Then, take your knees up until they are shoulder-width apart and gently press them together with your hands.

Stay in this position for between 3 and 5 minutes before allowing your legs to go back to normal again. Repeat this at least twice every day and see the magic.

4. Bridge Pose (Setu Bandhasana)

To begin with, lie on your back and then slowly lift yourself up, so you are resting on your elbows and the tops of your feet. Ensure that each elbow rests directly underneath the shoulder joint as you do this and hold for between 10 and 20 seconds.

5. Water Fountain Pose (Matsyasana)

Water Fountain pose is an easy way to naturally thin hair from the roots. Because it forces blood to flow into your head, increasing circulation and improving the natural oil production of your scalp.

6. Half Moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana)

Half Moon pose is another great way to improve circulation to your scalp while also encouraging hair follicles to become less active.

To perform it, kneel down and then slowly raise one leg up. So that your foot is resting on the inside of your opposite thigh. Your arms should be outstretched in front of you with the palms facing upwards as you do this.

Half Moon Pose

Hold for between 10 and 30 seconds before lowering yourself slightly to the floor. So that your leg is no longer resting on the inside of your thigh.  Repeat as many times as you like, ideally three or four times a day.

7. The Plow Pose (Halasana)

To do this yoga pose, lie down and then slowly lift yourself up onto your shoulders to lie across your body and face downwards. It is best to do the Plow Pose in a warm room or with a heat pack somewhere on your body as it will make this Pose easier to hold for longer.

8. The Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)

To do this yoga pose, lie down on your belly and then gradually lift up, so you are resting on your hands and the tops of your feet.

Ensure that you keep your body in a straight line as you do so. Rather than curling into a ball, hold for up to 10 seconds before lowering yourself back down again. Repeat three or four times every day.

9. The Locust Pose (Salabhasana)

To do this yoga asana, lie down and then lift your arms to rest by your sides with the palms facing downwards.

Focus on keeping your body as straight as you can while performing it and hold for around 10 seconds before releasing again. Repeat three or four times a day.
